When you go through your cleaning routine be sure to add these five hidden popular spots for germs to hide out.\u00a0<\/p><ol><li><strong>Toothbrushes<\/strong><br \/>What should be one of the cleanest things in your house can actually be a breeding ground for bacteria. Your toothbrush and toothbrush holder collect germs from your mouth as well as bathroom bacteria. Be sure to store your toothbrush far from the toilet and run your toothbrush holder through the dishwasher once a week.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li><strong>Cutting boards<\/strong><br \/>Cutting boards have a surprising amount of germs considering they are primarily used for veggies and meat. Mold spores can start to breed if they aren\u2019t cleaned regularly. To get your wooden cutting boards clean, spray them with vinegar and let it set overnight.\u00a0 C21 tip: Microwave the cutting board on high for 30 seconds. The heat will kill any bacteria that is lingering on the board.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li><strong>Coffee Maker<\/strong><br \/>Coffee makers are a favourite hiding spot for germs and bacteria. The basket containing the grounds usually gets cleaned but the water reservoir is typically rarely cleaned.\u00a0 Bacteria such as E.coli can grow if this is left neglected. Investing in a wire brush and scrubbing the water reservoir will prevent nasty bacteria from spreading and will keep your coffee tasting fresh.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li><strong>Pet Bowl<\/strong><br \/>We wash our own dishes but often our pet\u2019s dishes get forgotten. This is unhealthy for your pets and for your home. The old bits of food and water in your pets dishes aren\u2019t good for them to eat and they can often attract rodents. You don\u2019t need to wash them daily but throwing them in the dishwasher once a week well prevent attracting any unwanted extra pets at home.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li><strong>Sponges<\/strong><br \/>Ironically, the tool we use to clean can harbour the most bacteria and germs. Sponges are a germ\u2019s best friend if they aren\u2019t cleaned properly or get too old.\u00a0 To keep your sponges lasting longer spritz them with vinegar or give them a zap in the microwave.
